Description:
The Southern Festoon is from Southern Europe and is relatively small, but conspicuously colored with a red warning color to deter predators. There is also a very similar species, the Spanish Festoon which has more red spots on its wings.

Flight period:
One brood from March to May.

Larval host plants:
Aristolochia species.
