Oleg Kosterin

Oleg Kosterin was born in June 16th 1963 in Omsk and been living there until he was sixteen. In 1979 he moved to Novosbirsk Akademgorodok where he studied in a physics and mathematics school for one year and then entered Novosibirsk State University. He has graduated from the university in 1985 and since that time he has been working in the Institute of Cytology and Genetics of Siberian Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

General: Oleg Kosterin was from the very first time obsessed with insects which, unfortunately, were too scarce in Omsk. Since he was twelwe years old he made pictures of insects, mostly butterflies. First in black / white, but since 1988 he changed to color transparencies.  In 1979 he moved to Academy Town at Novosibirsk, surrounded with alternating meadows and asp/birch woods. Most of his photos are made in this surroundings and on many expeditions to various regions of Siberia. He is also interested in dragonflies.
