The time of eating has passed by. The caterpillar is spinning a pillow at the bottom and a belt in which it hangs. 05/22/92, 18:30 until about 19:00

The big moment has come: The peeling to pupa! By fits and starts the old skin is being striped of.

Even now you can see the butterfly's eyes, wings and antennas!

After one night the pupa gets its final look. Now it rests motionless until the butterfly's hatching out.
A green pupa usually hatches out in the same year. If it hibernates, its color is usually brown
(see next page).
