Hub Reumkens
tells about himself: It is only ten years ago that I fell in love with butterflies. I just had bought an new camera, a Nikon FG, and the first object that came on my view-finder was a butterfly, the Small Tortoiseshell. The fascination for these beautiful creatures grew during our holidays in Switzerland. Soon I discovered in the environment of Tilburg the locations where many kinds of butterflies fly. To share and exchange these experiences and to collect data for protection and promoting butterflies I gathered about 15 butterfly-lovers in a groop. I personally participated in the national monitoring project by following every week the butterflies on the same traject. In 1994 I retired and in 1996 we moved to Maastricht, the most southern city of the Netherlands. As a good-by gift I made a draft map of the butterflies of Tilburg and its environment. Now I continue my hobby by making photos and slides, using a Micro-NIKKOR 200mm, and by following the butterflies in their ups and downs. Maastricht, Juli 7th, 1998 |
